“PRACTICAL ASPECTS IN CIVIL ENGINEERING”
An Alumni interaction and site visit was organised in association with Indian Geotechnical Society (IGS) and Institutions Innovation Counsil (IIC) by the Department of Civil Engineering on 07 th Feb, 2024 from 11:00am to 1:00pm. The resource person for this event was our proud alumni Er. Sandeep Mirashi, Managing Director, Shravya Constructions, Haliyal (201 1-2015) batch student.


BIS-INDUSTRY VISIT TO “CONECC INDUSTRY PVT LTD, DHARWAD.”
An industry visit to Conecc Industries Pvt Ltd. Dharwad was organised in association with Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) Hubballi by the Department of Civil Engineering on 28th June, 2024 from 10:00am to 12:00pm.
Shri. Amit Metri, Manager, Conecc Industries Pvt Ltd. Dharwad, interacted with all the 6th semester students of Civil Engineering. During the interaction session, he explained the process of manufacturing the light weight block at his plant. The plant mainly consists of two silos where, the different raw materials are mixed and collected in the container. The container along with mixture is cooled and transported to cutting unit where the sample is cut into four different sizes. At the end, blocks are cured by steam curing method in a closed container for 8hrs. Immediately after curing the light weight blocks are transported to construction sites for various construction purposes.
Even the industry visit helped the students to know the importance of IS standards. Students were briefed about ethical principal and its importance while manufacturing the blocks to maintain the quality.


An educational site visit to Alnavar Railway Station (LWR)
An educational site visit to Alnavar Railway Station (LWR) Alnavar Taluk, Dharwad district was organized by the Department of Civil Engineering for 6th semester students on 3rd June 2024. The visit was organized successfully with the prior permission of Station Superintendent, Alnavar Railway Station (LWR), under the guidance of our beloved Principal Dr. V. A. Kulkarni and by the initiative and persistent efforts of Head of Department Dr. Ashik Bellary.
The 6th semester 30 students, along with Prof. Harsha A. Jadhav and Prof. Harshvardhan V. S visited Alnavar Railway Station (LWR). During the visit students got knowledge about permanent ways, components of permanent way, Fittings and fastenings, switching point and cross-checking of track levels. Prof. Harsha Jadhav briefed about technical components of railway tracks, different gauges and maintenance of tracks. Mr.Gopalji, Station Master and his team explained about the features of Alnavar railway station, which consist of two railway track and also Alnavar railway station is a junction. The team explained about railway track maintenance with straight edge and level tubes. Prof. Harshvardhan V.S briefed about steel components across the plat form. From this visit, our students got practical exposure of what they learnt in their academics.
