In order to enhance technical skills of the students of Civil Engineering Department, a Technical Association is formed in the Academic year 2011-12 with the name ‘ACES’-Association of Civil Engineering Students, with a punch line “ Where Imagination & Reality are Bridged Together”.

Logo Description

1. The background of this logo describes major responsibilities being a Civil Engineer. Our Logo illustrates our Foundation and Focus.
2. A Surveyor in the background is planning for a building before construction, which indicates proper vision and mission for any progress of work.
3. Prosperous Nation comes up with Intelligent minds, Good infrastructure, Good network of roads and by constructing bridges to overcome obstacles. Our Association ‘ACES’ Trains the students through various events, seminars, study tour etc… and make them fit To achieve the above dreams for the welfare of the society.
4. The Green Leaves at the forefront of the logo is a fitting symbol of Eco friendly growth.

Objectives

• It aims to improve the student standard with Practical knowledge.
• The Association caters the needs of students & provides a forum for developing new technology.
• It aims to nurture well disciplined socially committed and technically competent Engineers with innovative thinking.
• It proposes to organize various seminars, Lecture, Industrial Visit etc.
• “Sound Body Sound Mind” Association aims to conduct various sports activity in order to show their talents and make them fit.

Activities 2021-2022

• Civil Engineering Department organized Clean India and plastic-free Campus programme as part of NSS Activity in view of Azaadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav Mahotsav 75 at KLS’s VDIT Haliyal on  25th October 2021. The event was coordinated by Prof. Vijaylaxmi. V
• Department of Civil Engineering and ECO CLUB organized an activity on “KNOW MY GREEN CAMPUS” on 27th October 2021. The event was coordinated by Prof. Laxmi H.
• Civil Engineering Department organized a talk on “WOMEN- Health, Wellness and Selfcare” for all girl students/women, in association with ICC, KLS VDT, Haliyal on the  29th October 2021. The event was coordinated by Prof. Parvati. Oni 
• VDIT and Kannada kalpavriksha sanga has organized Kannada Rajyotsava celebration for faculty members on 20th November 2021
• Prof. Laxmi G Hattiholi has organized Kannada quiz competition event for KLS VDIT students on 29th November 2021
• Department of Civil Engineering in association with ACES organized field visit to the RMC plant for 5th-Semester students on 8th December 2021. The field visit was coordinated by  Prof. Parvati Oni. 
• Department of Civil Engineering in association with the Department of Library & Information center organized Orientation Program on ” National Digitial Library ” (NDLI) on 10th December 2021. The event was coordinated by Prof.Rakesh Patil.
• Conducted IIT Bombay Spoken Tutorial workshop on QCAD (open source software) for 3rd-semester students on 16th  December 2021
• Conducted IIT Bombay Spoken Tutorial workshop on Blender  (open source software) for 5th semester students on 21st December 2021

• Department of Civil Engineering conducted field visit for 3rd-semester students on25th  February 2022. Civil Engineering 2010 batch alumni Prateek H, MD, Aakruthi associates took the students to various project sites near Haliyal town.
• Visit by Government Polytechnic, Mundgod students to Department of Civil Engineering KLS VDIT, Haliyal. Conducted by Prof. Bhanupriya N in BMT Laboratory to study on “Tension test on Mild Steel bar” on 01/02/2022.
• Prof. Laxmi G Hattiholi, Prof. Vijaylaxmi B V, and Prof. Rakesh Patil has organized a debate competition on the eve of Matru Basha divas for the 1st  and 2nd year students on 17/02/2022.
• Prof. Vijaylaxmi B V attended One-week online AICTE-ISTE Sponsored Course on “Theory and Practical Essence of Bridge Engineering” Organized by the Department of Civil Engineering, KLS’s GIT, Belagavi from 1st  Feb – 7th Feb 2022.
• Prof. Laxmi G Hattiholi has delivered a talk on the Importance of Science and Technology for the KLS PUC students organized by KLS PUC Haliyal,  held on 7th March 2022.
• Prof. Harshvardhan V S conducted a Technical site visit to the “Thimmapur Old Tank Site located near Haliyal Fort in Haliyal” for sixth semester students held  on 5th April, 2022.

• Department of Civil Engineering in association with IE(I) Civil Chapter and in collaborationwith Training and Placement Cell KLS’s VDIT has organised a Talk on “Campus to Corporate Vision your career before you Build it” for 6th and 8th semester students of Civil Engineering  on 27th May 2022. Er. Adarsh Patil Proud Alumni of KLS’s VDIT with 7 Years of Industry experience (B. Eng, (M.Tech) (PMP) presently working as Vice President & HOS Digital Engineering, Haegl Technology Pvt.Ltd was the Resource Person and coordinated by Prof. Laxmi G Hattiholi and Prof. Seema B.
• On the occasion of KLS VDIT Foundation Day held on May 11th, 2022, The Department of Civil Engineering was inaugurated by Dr. Karisiddappa, Vice Chancellor, VTU Belagavi, in presence of Dr. A. S. Deshpande, Registrar, VTU Belagavi, Shri. R. V. Deshpande, MLA, Haliyal Joida Constituency, and eminent Board Members of Karnatak Law Society. • On the occasion of KLS VDIT Foundation Day held on May 11th, 2022, Shri. Pradeep S.Sawkar, Chairman, KLS Belagavi inaugurated the new Basketball Ground. • Department of Civil Engineering arranged a farewell party for the final year students in association with ACES on 30th June 2022.
• KLS,s VDIT in association with N.S.S organized “Blood Donation Camp” on the occasion of Doctor’s Day at KLS’s VDIT HALIYAL on July 1, 2022.
• Department of Civil Engineering organized online test on SPOKEN TUTORIAL entitled “Q GIS open-source software” for 4th and 6th-semester students. 110 students attended the online test on August 18 and 19, 2022. Prof. Vijaylaxmi B V co-ordinated the event.

• Department of Civil Engineering in association with ISTE student chapter conducted webinar on “CAREER IN CIVIL ENGINEERING- CHALLENGES AND OPPORTUNITIES” for the pre-final and final year students on 14th October 2020. Mr. Shivaprasad G S, Manager, Design Review team, Bureau Veritas (India) Pvt. Ltd, Bangalore presented the webinar.
• Department of Civil Engineering in association with ISTE student chapter conducted a webinar on “Self Motivation” for the second-year students of all the Engineering colleges on 21st October 2020. Prof. G.V. Donurmath was invited as the speaker of the session. Nearly 45 students from the neighboring colleges attended the webinar.

• 6th semester students of Civil Engineering Department visited water treatment plant at Alnavar on 9th April 2018.
• 4th semester students of Civil Engineering Department visited Badami, Aihole and Pattadakal on 20th April 2018 as a part of geological study tour.
• Extensive Survey work was carried out for VI sem B.E. (Civil Engg.) Students from 16/01/2018 to 25/01/2018 (as a part of curriculum).
• Two Days All India Seminar on “Recent Trend in Highway Planning and Pavement Design’’ held on 23rd and 24th February, 2018
• 47th National Safety Week was organized in the 2nd week of March 2018, to create awareness among students.
