Mechanical Engineering Department started with the B.E. Programme in the year 2004. It is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi, Karnataka. Since its inception, the department has been actively involved in imparting quality education to the students.
The Department has highly qualified, committed and motivated faculty. It has well equipped spacious Laboratories and other Infrastructural facilities to cater the needs of budding Mechanical Engineering students.
The departmental library has a sound collection of books including reference books & text books. The post graduate programme was started in the year 2013 in Thermal Engineering with 18 students intake. The department is recognized as a Research Centre of VTU.
Over the decade, the department has established state-of-the art laboratories in various subjects which are utilized both by undergraduate and post-graduate students for conducting experiments.
The department has MOUs with various sectors of industry ranging from automotive to manufacturing domains.
PEO 1: Graduate will update themselves through lifelong learning such as higher studies, skill enhancement and other professional activities.
PEO 2: Establish a successful career in mechanical engineering and related fields in industry and other organization where an engineering approach to problem solving is highly valued.
PEO 3: Graduates will contribute to society through their devotion in science and technology leading to uplift their standard of living.
PEO 4: Contribute significantly in a multidisciplinary work environment with ethical standards by understanding the role of mechanical engineering.

Mechanical Engineering Students Association has started in the year 2006, with an intension of providing platform for the students to exhibit their co-curricular talent.
With the guidance of staff MESA has conducted various earmark able events. Marathon in 2011 to pay homage to TSUNAMI victims of Japan.
Innovision: In 2012 competition among the students in various categories like Admaking, Photovision, Vision walk, Media mind, Innoshop, Exhi vision, Stunt mania etc.
Technical talks, Cricket tournament, Badminton are the few other events to name.
MESA has become a major student association in the institute to encourage and participate in the cultural, sports and technical events.
MESA has conducted many Technical talks by the subject experts, Industry persons and organized industrial visits for the benefit of students.
Mechanical engineering organized the two days workshop on Engine and Advance Engine Management Workshop in collaboration with Competences factory Bangalore. More than 80 students had students participated from various Electrical, Mechanical and Electronics and Communication department.

The machine shop, equipped with the modern machine tools like Lathes, Universal Milling machine, Shaping machine, Surface grinding machine provides the practical skill about the various machine tools to the Mechanical Engineering students. About 30 Lakh rupees has been invested and established over the carpet area of 218 Sq.mts.
The Material Testing Laboratory, to provide training about the metallograpgy and Material testing has been established over the carpet area of 120 Sq.mts and consists of Universal testing machine, Compression testing machine, Impact, Hardness and Shear testing machines.
